Help:
Using this search form you can search the entire web site, only protocols (trails), or only consent forms (both NU and VA). There is a handy 'Summary' feature that includes up to the first 500 characters in the file. Microsoft Word documents, Adobe Acrobat (PDF) files, powerpoint presentations, and web (html) pages are all included in the search index and summary outputs. Using this form you can search for protocols by protocol number or by keywords in the title. You can also include multiple words to build a phrase or separate them by boolean operators.
Examples:
To find the protocol 98Z3 you could try the following searches:
Find: 98Z3
If you are sure it is an NU protocol, you could try:
Find: NU and 98Z3
Special Note: The boolean and operator will find any page containing both NU and 98Z3. They may be on separate lines or even separate paragraphs.
If you know that the title is exactlyNU 98Z3, you could enter:
Find: NU 98Z3
You might also want to find an ECOG or NU study. You can do that by:
Find: (NU or ECOG) and 98Z3
Only documents with either NU or ECOG and have 98Z3 in them will be found. Note that you can also group search terms using parentheses to resolve more complex queries.Wild card searches: The Verity search engine supports the use of preceding, embedded or trailing wildcards. For instance the following:
Find: carc*
will find all pages with carcinomas, carcinogens, etc. You could also be interested in finding all protocols with 'ectomy' in it, in which case the following search would be handy:
Find: *ectomy
You could also be interested in finding all locations of a name or drug, but you don't recall the exact spelling or want to find multiple derivatives. The following would match taxol, Paclitaxel, or anything else with 'tax*l' in it :Find: *tax*l
